Low Impedance 83's And A Stock ECM

Dan has the old skool 83's in his car. The so called modded ECM he purchased is NFG. Tossed in a stock ECM to get him up and running. Can he cruise the car around or should he wait till he gets a modded ECM. Kinda hoping he can hit the track with me.

I was under the impression that you could burn up the drivers running low impedance injectors with high impedance drivers.

I think it will work if he takes it easy so it does not pull too much current

Thanks Steve. He's old like me so he just cruises it around town. If he smokes it at the track...then no worries. He has an electric winch on his trailer.

I have known a couple of guys that ran them a long time on a stock ecm

I added a large computer fan to my modded ECM case to deal with the heat.  I keep a spare modded ECM in the trunk.  If the drivers from the modded ECM are serviceable Bob Bailey can transfer them over to another known-good stock ECM - that's what I did after one of mine went poof!

EDIT: There are also converter boxes from companies like AEM that will allow you to use low-Z injectors with a high-Z ECM.

LOL... you can also do it with 6-6.5ohm resistors in-line on the power wire, as I understand it.

Granted, this is for a 4 banger but there are 6 cylinder honda and other imports that may have a box on them as well.
