need help with parasitic draw
« on: July 27 2014, 11:08:56 AM »
I don't have my laptop with the service manual on it with me.
I always thought that with the ignition key turned forward to the first detent, did not power anything, but just allowed you to shift from park.
I've had a parasite draw for awhile now and it has zonked one battery and one maintainer.
it appears to be coming from the CLK-CIG circuit, but I have the radio memory circuit and cig lighter plug unhooked.
I am suspect I may have tapped power for my oil pressure gauge from that circuit awhile back, so I will tackle that next.

and I ask about the first detent position because it showed a draw on the battery with it in that position (sometimes), and vice versa.
I often leave it in that position so I can push the car back to where I want it in the garage.
I gotta take a break .  it's humid as hell.  I wish it would just rain and get it over with  :013:

It was my oil gauge.
had it plugged into a "batt" terminal on the fuse box instead of the "ignition".  :rolleyes;

another problem solved without needing to post :icon_eyes:

Sometimes just being forced to organize your thoughts in order to
post a semi intelligent question provides clarity- in my experience
