those of you with the turbo saver...

where are you mounting it?
I've seen some mount it to the pass side front frame horn.  I have a trans cooler there.  was wondering if there is other spots that are more ideal.
I remember red regal t (think that was his name), had a pretty good set up for filtering the turbo oil, but my laptop took a dump a couple weeks ago and my internet ability has been limited via pita iphone.  so havent been much for searching or posting.
I used to have a small in line filter for my turbo, but I removed it in favor of getting something that goes through a paper element.
steve, earl, pacecarta or any of you other smarties  are gonna recomend that a turbo saver is a waste of time, nows the time to do it as I have not bought one yet
I'm open for any any input.  thanks!

I'd go with Mark Hueffman's  (TR Custom Parts) ....Turbo Protector.
It's way simpler & a much cleaner / less cluttered installation.


I've been running one for years & am very happy with it. Lots of other buick members have too.

the PTE turbo save was originally intended to mount to the rad support in front of battery below the headlight opening

looking at my engine compartment today, I guess it looks like in front of the battery is the area that makes the  most sense.  I hate to move my trans cooler though.
1kwiksix, I'm aware of marks turbo filter, but I don't see any pics of the installation though.  it says it mounts under the turbo shield, but I don't see how.   I think red regal t's mounted right to the turbo heat shield.   
and, is it a good idea to have a non-bypass filter  for the turbo if it where to suddenly become clogged?

Thanks for the directions Paul. I got 1 through a trade but no directions with it. I'll be routing it to the filter then to a remote cooler and back to the engine and was wondering how to put it under the headlight.
And remember, when dealing with children, silence may be golden but duct tape is silver.

I think red regal t's mounted right to the turbo heat shield.   
I used the original feed line to go into the the oil filter adapter then came right back to the turbo.
i mounted the filter right onto the turbo's shield bracket.
one thing i will tell you is that the filter gets stupid hot, I've been thinking about adding a heat sink to the filter.

aha!  I got a better idea of how marks works now.
it replaces the existing factory oil filter.  I was thinking that blue canister was a in-line filter.
I think I'm gonna go for it.   :chin:
