are cold air kits still over-rated?
« on: February 10 2013, 07:00:46 PM »
thinking about pulling mine off and pitching it.
If I remember correctly, grumpys 9 sec street car didnt have one and he had no use for one.

is a mid 11 second street car gonna be any better or worse with a cold air kit k&n vs just a k&n in the stock filter location?

The stock air box looks fairly restrictive... at least to me.

stock air box is gonna be more restictive.
I'm talking about a cold air kit that is a tube going through the radiator support and down in front of the tire.

it must be like a second job keeping that filter clean.
I like the "removed headlight" cold air better.
I have seen a lot of fast cars with NO type of cold air system.

Pull it off and clean it up nice. Sell it on Ebay for $100. Buy a new lawn chair and  2 cases of Corona and enjoy :atbeer:

Mine has a cover for on one side so the wheel don't get it dirty, but if I don't need it, its going bye-bye.

I'd say it depends on what your IATs are under load.
