Installed my new Sandisk Extreme 120GB SSD

Motherfscking WIN!

I replaced an old SATA2 64GB Zalman. I thought the Zalman was fast - but holy shit!

I used Clonezilla - but it did exactly that - Clone it, and after booting with the Sandisk, the partition was still ~64GB.

I couldn't expand the volume in Windows for some reason, so I grabbed GParted, and resized it to the full ~120GB drive size.

The Lenovo i7 NB I am using it in has a boot time optimizer, and with the Zalman - boot time was 44 seconds, and after installing the Sandisk, and re-running the boot optimizer - it now boots in 19 seconds.   

Windows Disk Score went from 7.2 - 7.9. Not sure if that's good or not.

Zalman 64GB SATA2 Phison controller benchmark, max ~275MB/Sec

Ssd drives are fast but when they die there is little to no warning... 

Make sure you backup your important data, documents ect onto something else..

I had a Corsair p 128 crap out on me in less than a year and a half.

I have a Windows Home Server that does nightly backups.

I wouldn't touch an older Corsair or OCZ drive. They were so worried about tweaking the last bit of speed out, that they did a shitty job writing their firmware. The best drives are the Samsung 830 and Intel 520 series - but most companies don't have the SandForce chipset firmware issues they used to have.

The Sandisk Extreme 120GB was $79 - I couldn't pass it up.
