Sanding Hardwood Floors

I'm off this week...and I wanna sand the hardwood floor in the spare bedroom. I did the diningroom floor years ago with a drum sander...and it turned out great. I heard there's new sanders out there at the Rentall places that are more forgiving than the drum sanders. Any info would be appreciated.

I found the drum sander almost impossible in a Br. You could only move a couple of feet and the handle stops your travel, too easy to get a ridge. Big pad sounds much safer.

Think you're right. Was checking on Youtube and they have a triangular sander with three pads on it. Might be the hot ticket.

Rented the orbital sander from Home Depot this morning...did a nice job. Just finished throwing a coat of varathane on it. One more coat in the morning...and pound the new baseboards on on Wednesday.

Sanding was easy...loading the damn thing in the car...and then hauling it up the stairs to the 2nd floor almost killed me. It weighs a ton.
