Administration Fee
« on: November 29 2011, 12:28:10 PM »
So I walk into AT&T to grab a new phone...cuz I'm up for a free hardware upgrade. I pick one out...and the sales lady says there's an administration fee. I say, "So let me get this straight. I've been a customer for years...and you want me to pay $35.00 to stay a customer?" She started mumbling incoherently.. .and I walked out.

Personally, I've found that I get better deals at Radio Shack for iPhones and iPhone accessories than an "AT&T store".

When I got my daughter her iPhone 3 recently they told me that there would be a $35 fee that would pop up on my AT&T bill, but if you call AT&T directly, they will waive it...and they did.  I don't understand why they even bother with it.

I went into buy an iPhone at an AT&T Store and  for some reason wanted to charge me about $75 for something Radio Shack would give me for free for the same contract via AT&T.

Keep in mind, AT&T stores aren't exactly with AT&T...their connection is odd at best.  We have five AT&T stores all within a few blocks of one another, two are right across the street from one another...and this is in small town USA with a population of <25K.

Because most people would take the time to fight through the bs and wait on hold to argue with an operator over $35. And it is pure profit.
