Tool Steel Rings?
« on: December 23 2011, 03:16:27 PM »
Any opinions on the Sealed Power Tool Steel Hell Fire rings? They are promoted for blower, nitrous etc. The Total Seal Plasma Moly rings aren't available & they don't know when they may do another run of them. Summit isn't listing the Total Seal right now either?
I know the Tool Steel are geared towards race cars.
My machine shop has used them in track engines without issues but I may be the test mule for the Buick V-6. He stands behind them & is asking what I want to do? He knows I want to see 26+ lbs boost at the track. Altho, track days are farther apart lately.
Anyone here using them or know someone who has used them?
Thanks & Merry Christmas to everyone.

I'd be using whatever JB Racing uses...with the same ring gaps.

So what does he use?? Are they in your engine from him?

I have always used the Total Seal Plasma Moly but finding them now is going to be a lot of work. The Hellfire sound like they may be fine but seems like the Tool Steel causes extra wear on the bores? Altho, I haven't done enuf research yet. Just getting started so any opinions are welcome!
