The begining of my trip to Jilin, China

Well after many plans and having to cancel all of them, I finilly made it to girlfriends home town of Jilin, China yesterday.
She had to work, so could not meet me at the airport. I told her no problem as her boss already let her have 2 holidays to go to Korea and Hongkong to meet me.
She had her younger brother meet me at the airport (Changchun) to give me a ride to the hotel in Jilin. It's about a 45 minute drive that he managed to do in about 30 minutes. lol. With in the first 3 minutes he was passing cars on the shoulder. When we got into town he was passing on shoulder, across the centerline onto on coming traffic, lost count on the number of red lights that he ran....He spoke no english expect on thing, "You OK?"
Once in the hotel he gave me about 30 minutes to take a shower and off to a early dinner.
He had ditched the car and was back with a taxi and his girlfriend. I guess he thought I would like American, so take me to a place that had American food too.
I guess he didn't know of all the things I have already eatten, lol.
My plane from Beijing to Changchun
Dinner with her little brother and his girlfriend

After a good nights sleep, I woke up at 3:30am and took a walk down the river
Got a couple of strange looks from the locals that where up having a walk too. Guess they are not use to seeing a American.I did say good morning in Chinese to the men on my morning walk and got a double take.
Today her little brother and a friend took me site seeing around town while she worked. So it's easier to say how many lights he did not run.... 1

Nice! You are looking good, Jim! Old age suits you!
Take a trip outside one night and let me know if the roads are still full of those Korean War vintage trucks that drive with their lights off because they only have high beams. And, about every thirty seconds, they turn them on to see what is in the road.

Yes the are still here and driving with out their lights on, but it appears that they have upgraded to 60 era trunks for half of them. I think that other half ended up the the accident that I saw on the first day.
Just so everyone knows, that's not my girlfriend in the picture, it's one of her friends that has been helping play tour guide and to translate for her little brother.
She couldn't get off work for the first 2 days and I could change my dates for coming.
So she made plays on keeping me busy everyday. And I can say that they have done a great job of that. Every time they bring me back to the hotel they walk me to my room. maybe they think I'll get lost :rofl;
He only knows one sentence..."You ok?" I think he learned this just to ask after every road trip we take :rofl;

Have fun Jim. Haven't heard from you in a while so I'm glad to see you're still kicking.
