TV Reality Resto shows...

Anyone ever notice that on all these shows that they get down to two hours from having to deliver the car to auction or the owner and the brand new engine they installed will not start?  Then they spend an hour trying to find out why, twisting the distributor, pulling on wires, looking worried, etc.

I wonder how many of these spit a cam out 150 miles down the road because they wiped all the break in lube off the lobes and scrubbed a lifter due to the low cranking speed on the starter and the lack of oil flow to the valve train?

Come to think of it, I wonder why they never break the cams in?  They all stand around with big smiles on their faces, wiping the sweat of worry off, blip the throttle a couple of times and then start working on the leaks.

Surely, not all of these are roller lifters.

All those reality shows are BS anyway.  Doesn't seem to matter whether they are building cars or motorcycles, there's alway some rediculous 2-3 week deadline to meet.
I were having something so elaborate built I wouldn't want the builders under such rediculous time constraints.  It would always be in the back of my mind, what did they screw up, rushing so much?

i was watching one where they pulled a gto out of a junkyard. what i liked about it is that they said it wasnt ment to be a show car.

The fuckin paint doesn't even have time to dry before they drag it off to auction.

Now - Wheeler Dealers - a Brit show I watch on HD Theater - that's a real show.

wheeler dealers is a great show...I used to watch the Boyd show with my wife...and point out all the paint mistakes...If I had a car in that shop I would pull it out based on the crap that goes on...BUT  having dealt and still deal with some of the premier restoration shops in the country such as Hibernia Auto Restorations.. . The Stone Barn...Phoenix Rod & Custom,Automotive Restorations Inc. that crap does not go on...think it is all for TV type stuff that goes on

The "Muscle Car" guys culminated their Buick build with a 3 minute clip at BG.
Since I was there watching the crew traipse around- it was a little bit interesting.

Usually it is hard to find actual technical content on these shows.
I guess I prefer "Chop Cut Rebuild" and the guy with the hair build wacky 4x4s
on Extreme4x4.

All of these fall far short of the UK "Top Gear" for watchability
Been buying seasons - don't get tired of them.
