Intake Spacers??

What is the main advantage to use a 1" or 1.5" spacer other than a bit more air. Does it even help on a car running high 10's low 11's other than the convienence of tapping into it for vacuum sources to keep it cleaner looking under the hood?
When do they become really beneficial HP wise? 600-700-800HP?
I was looking at a 1.5" Champion tapped for Vac lines so the top hat on TB could be tossed having a cleaner looking engine. I dont see any other real gains for my situation since I race it so rarely now anyways. Probably more just for looks in my case but any chance it would help with the RJC Plate? Thanks!

The PowerPlate seemed to work better than the spacers did....At least on street cars..

Taller spacers, in theory at least, should straighten out the air flow and provide more equal air to the intake runners.  For street cars, the spacer idea seemed to die out long ago as most could not find any more performance from them.

They work better with a Holley 850 double pumper.

I think that guys running 4" intakes and 3" up pipes use them the most things get a little cramped. My 4 inch Maf will rub on the 2.5 up pipe if I'm not paying attention putting it together.

My turbo is 4" in but I use a 3.5" pipe with 3" intake & it just fits with the RJC but I have to make sure its all lined up right. I have a 1/2" spacer I may add for that reason but a 1.5" spacer is a lot.
