Ford Ranger AC question
« on: August 06 2009, 11:53:52 PM »
Working on my older sisters 2001 Ranger 3.0. The truck runs fine when first started, cold as hell. While heating up, I can see, hear and feel something kicking in the AC compressor, but the clutch doesn't spin. Eventually the engine starts jerking around and then after one final jerk, the engine shuts off, and won't start normally until until the thing cools off.

Now, I've kept the engine alive by spinning it up to 2000 rpms and when the AC is turned on, the clutch engages and disengages randomly. I did my best to charge the system today a little bit, but it's still doing it, leading me to believe it's an AC switch. What switch would it be? There's a heater/AC switch thing, and a high pressure switch, and a relay. What does it sound like? Thing is driving me nuts.
My 1958 Mamiya can beat up whatever camera you just wasted your money on.
