I am restoring and painting all the trim parts, they will be painting all the body color parts. Yes the bumpers are a 2 man job and still hard to not scuff the fillers. Passenger side mirror is a paint in the ass with the cable up to the dash, pulled it out with a wire following it for reinstalling it. The front bumper moulding has some gouges and scars on it. Any ideas on a product to repair it with? I can get a new one for $150 but all these odds and ends add up fast, would like to try to see if it can be fixed up cheaper.
There's a thread on the other board if you're into smooth bumpers without the strip.

I pulled the tank back down and compared it to the original - visually not much difference except the flanges. I bent them in where the straps are, like the OEM tank. That got me closer but not quite. I had to remove the rubber strap to finally get the bolts on, and I had to hook up the passenger side rear bolt then force the undercarriage bolt to line up and drive it in. I confirmed it is only hitting at the reinforced area where the tank mounts - no rubber hose holder or hose clamps or wiring in the way. It is what it is for now. When I eventually get it out of the garage and up on ramps or stands and have some room I may give it another try. I'm done with this thread - I need to get the seat foam replaced and the exhaust re-hung which will include some welding, and maybe an inline muffler to supplement. Before I take it to a shop I need to re-work the door straps and weather stripping when I have a free and sunny weekend, and replace the tires.

Yeah, I scoured those for a while before posting. Took a bit but I'm sure the rjc version is routed different than what I have. I don't have the instructions anymore for the atr version but I'm pretty sure mine is on wrong. Been that way a long time though. I need to get some of the hangers fixed and that's probably the only reason it will matter.

I'm trying to imagine that car with a few scars on the bumper trim and I bet it's hardly noticeable and looks great!

Thanks Steve, yes it's a lot of work and definitely made some mistakes to which I learned I forgot to mention that I was in the process of masking the car for base paint in the early summer, and the worst has happen to me when for no reason I blew out my knee. I do used a knee pad, but according to my doctor he claimed I had this knee issue brewing for some time. I would rather blown out my knee after the car was painted, but that didn't happen as I had to wait until my knee gain strength again. MRI shown my right knee had a torn meniscus. My Doctor claimed no knee replacement, but I might need a micro surgery to repair and clean the knee. Right now the doctor gave me some exercises to do to help gain strength on the knee. I'm doing pretty good walking and getting around, but I do sometimes judge myself of kneeing down and adding more strength to the knee just to get up. Right now I'm doing the sanding standing up and sometimes sitting on a small swivel chair. Getting old is so much fun of expecting the unexpected, but life goes on.

Hi Steve, Hi Dave, I know it's been almost a year since my last post of choosing a certain black color, and I decided to used Super Black. After spraying the epoxy, primer filler, I had to wait for warmer climate and we also had excess amount of rain. I sprayed about a 3 weeks ago of 3 coats of Super Black base, and 3 coats of clear. Now I'm in the process of wet sanding using 2000 grit, 3000 grit, and finally 5000 grit. This process will remove some dirt nips, some runs, and orange peels. This will also make the polishing process more easier, and less heat on all panels. I will text you again next year when all is done.

I think they sell some urethane or polyurethane repair kits for repairing these kinds of problems
