Steve,

The check valve coming from the metal vac line is leaking. I did check it blowing into it and it seemed fine but it did not work with a few psi of compressed air. I think this is the major issue.

Next issue is my heater valve does work but it does not seal 100%. The valve closes and I can visually see it blocks the port but when I hooked it up to a hose water does leak. With fluid entering vacuum port side a leaks a small stream (maybe 10%) with fluid flowing the other way it maybe blocks 25%.

Also the valve was hooked up in the car with the vacuum chamber at the top which I think is upside down. Correct?
Does coolant flow into the the valve before the heater core or does it shut off coolant coming out of the heater core?

So my dilemma is do I replace this with the plastic replacement as the metal one is discontinued. Metal one is definitely more reliable. I'm worried about cracking.
This is the plastic replacement from Rock auto- https://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/acdelco,155812,heater+valve,6860
Are there metal equivalents?  I've searched and found nothing.

Thanks for the help

General Buick Tech / Heater valve vacuum problem
« on: April 22 2022, 07:09:40 PM »
Hi,
My heater valve is opening during boost and even light driving affecting my AC air. I'm sure it's the valve as I bypassed the heater core and I get cold AC all the time.
I assume a bad or missing check valve or something else?
There is 1 check valve on the drivers side going to the metal vac line. That one is ok.
Are there others?
Any tips on how to troubleshoot?

Also, when I turn the car off the heater valve maintains a vacuum source for hours.

Thanks

Thanks. I'll take your advice and back down to 11.1.

The programmed closed loop AFR is 11.5. If I add boost why would this change?
The chip is supposed to add fuel to keep 11.5 constant.

Thanks for the help. I set the afr to 11.5 and runs much better.
I'll start increasing the boost to get some more power to the gnd.  :icon_lol:

So if I understand it is closed loop just running on the high side. It's erratic because I'm running way too rich?
And it does look like the kinked fuel line fixed the BLM pegged problem.
Maybe I should rename thread to help me tune. :icon_lol:

I could also increase boost, correct?
Is there some sort of chart of what the proper AFR is for boost?
And given my combo what would I need to adjust my boost, AFR, and timing to be low 11.0s (or not break the motor) running on 100 octane.
I have ported M&A heads, FMC, TE-63 turbo with 55lb injectors.
Thanks!

What I don't understand is why it's trying to add fuel when it looks like it is running around the programmed AFR.

I found a pretty bad kink in the rubber part of the supply line- maybe 50% restriction.
This has got to be it.

Steve thanks for helping out.

I have 55lb injectors and I read 14.5volts across the battery terminals. Same for alternator bolt to chassis.
I got this pump last year-  http://www.gbodyparts.com/product_info.php?cPath=46_21_49&products_id=544&osCsid=20d15bf56dbd5903659f7471ee67918a

The FP is hot wired and I measured 13.8V at the connector back by the fuel tank.
And yes I'm running a 6.0 V chip.

Could I just be out flowing the FP? I really don't have a feel for this so any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I'm looking for some Powerlogger review help.
See attached. There are 3 highway wot runs on there with incrementally more boost added.
I have a TT chip and PLX wideband. Fuel is being logged. Running 100 octane.

Why are my BLMs climbing on the 2nd and 3rd run? It's trying to add fuel but my pressure is falling. It's a new Walbro FP and I tried 2 FP regulators.
Are my injectors maxing out? Is the pump being maxed out? Am I flowing to much?
Any comments?
Thanks!! :D
