Transmissions / Re: Thinking of moving my DIY pump build How-to over here
« on: December 07 2020, 08:16:26 PM »
I know the feeling. All of my 'how-to's are destroyed over there.

At least my oil pump articles, fuel pump, and a few others are still kickin' at turbobuicks.

Just make sure to start at the wheel furthest from the master cylinder and work towards the LF.

..or do, like me and drink 4 beers, put 4 1/4" hoses on each bleed nipple into each can.

The drink the remanding 20 beers until all four hoses run clean.

It's 'snug up the pinch nut'.

....but not so tight that the pedal can't swing freely.

Now I see why you were confused about putting the tee in the PCV hose.

That's not a normal 1pc hose. It's something someone 'custom built' in the past with a junction.

As far as sucking oil into the booster, don't worry about it. The throttlebody is the vacuum source that pulls the oil, not the booster.   All the line running to the booster does is supply a signal, not actual flow.

My theory of the day is to pull the pedal against the brake light switch and use the exact booster in the exact car to scribe/mark the exact pedal arm.

That way the brake pedal is still in the same spot where your foot expects it to be.

I recommend, from this point forward, you buy everyting you need form 'World of Motorworks' AKA Paul Catelbueno, AKA Paulie Castile, AKA Paul Castle, AKa...     fuck, I don't feel like typing anymore.

Moral of the story, get your credit card to get your money back, and don't spend money there ever again.

Also, I was kidding about the scammers that have to change their name as they get outed as frauds.

Just avoid them, Gbody, and Scot from GNS 'drop shipper for more money' performance.

The best overall choice is to leave your stock computer in place.

Knock a hole in the back of the pan so the fluid can drain without giving your an ATF shampoo.  Then weld or solder a nut over the hole for a drain bolt in the future.

I like Dexron VI.    Has the firm shifts like type F but has the temp handling capabilities like Dexron III.

...and on that Fram filter, run a bead of The Right Stuff around the sealing crimp to keep it from sucking air and/or fluid around the filter media.

Gimmiky plugs work like shit.

The heat from full boost (and/or some detonation) melts the puny electrodes on the expensive plugs.

12
Start with UR4s.   They cross over to both 42s and 43s.

"in the 25 years I have been doing this i haven't had to warranty a ACDelco plug due to manufacturers defects..."

He hasn't been paying attention then.   I've had bed Delcos out of the box in my GN, my slant 6 and my old Blazer.

Switched to NGKs (like I should have done since day one since I was a service manager at a bike shop) and never looked back.

Even my lawn more runs NGKs (and it helped)

....and when that cracks, I replace it with 30R10 and FI hose clamps....

15
30R7 will blow apart before it has a chance to turn to goo.

That's carb fuel line (and not even the 'good' stuff for carbs).  Not rated for FI pressure, not rated for boosted FI pressure, and damn sure not rated for submersion.
