FWIW Did some hunting and found this Opening and Closing calculator from Adv duration specs                                                                                                      IO = (.5*AdvIntDur)-Intake Lobe Center                                                                                 IC = (.5*AdvIntDur)-(180-Intake Lobe Center)                                                                       EO = (.5*AdvExhDur)+(2*LSA-ILC)-180                                                                                EC = (.5*AdvExhDur)-(2*LSA-ILC)                                                                                       Add the Intake opening and the Exhaust closing time to get the overlap.                                                                                   So, FWIW according to this calculator, the 206/210 roller cam timing specs are                     Intake opening -7 BTDC                                                                                                  Intake closing 33 ABDC                                                                                                      Exhaust opening 35 BBDC                                                                                              Exhaust closing -5 ATDC                                                                                                        -5 overlap

You may have to call 'em up and ask Marianne to take a picture of the card if she has one in stock??
Thanks Steve. I called but she doesn't have one. Will have to call again tomorrow morning and talk to Steve to see if he has that info.

General Buick Tech / Looking for a LT1 smog pump
« on: October 18 2016, 10:00:40 PM »
Just throwing this out here. I'm having a heck of a time trying to find a used cheap LT1 smog pump. Anyone have one laying around or have any friends the have LT1 cars that have disconnected theirs? Yes I want to use it as a crankcase vacuum setup.

Thanks,
Paul

Left me confused, Paul.  Not hard to do, I know.  :)

So, are you suggesting that the MSD 8224 is the hottest of them all and the L67 supercharged coil is almost as hot making those two the top choices? And the L67 is Delco D576?

Sorry for the confusion Steve, and you are not alone there. I confuse myself constantly LOL. It was really debatable whether the MSD's were any better than the L67's. But yes, those were the two top choices. and yes, the L67 is the D576.

And, I assume you have had good luck running the Type II? And are you, or have you, run the D576?

I have a lot in the past, and for some strange reason, ( I don't really remember why) I switched back. I am in the process of switching back now after suffering some bad misfiring. Strange thing is that the Magnavox Module and coil pack checked out fine with Caspers coil pack tester. (Plugs are new, wires are Magnacor. Need to check the resistance on them) I actually made a simple setup that allows me to run Caspers tester on the Type II setup, and you can see a slight difference in the performance between the two ignition types.
FWIW I had actually tried the GM 3800 Fast start setup, (when Bruce P was around. RIP) and yes, it did start super quick, but there was a misprint in one of the wiring diagrams I had got, and that caused some issues. I pulled everything off the car and went back to stock in frustration. I later found the correct wiring diagram, but just didn't want to go through the hassle of putting it all back together again. I will probably try it again now that the bad taste has gone.

Thanks for providing the info!
My pleasure Steve. Just trying to share.

I have run the type II setup off and on for years.
Yes, I hot wired the power with a relay off the alternator.

Thanks David, me too! Yeah I guess I have been pretty lucky over the years only having a few gremlins to battle. Sometimes I just don't feel like I want to wrench on the car for a while, and just drive it! LOL

I have to laugh at this and give myself the Dumb Ass award for this.  :icon_redface: After all this going over log files, and much resetting of my Tpro, I found the problem... I had a blown up a turbo to  "y" wastgate hose!!! I was going to pull my narrow band O2 sensor to exchange it with another, and while I had my hands under the turbo I felt this piece of lone hose ??? ? WTF ( Yeah old hose.  :rolleyes; ) Replaced the hose and all is good. Sure explains the wild boost spikes as well. Oh well, I will now have a spare wideband O2 sensor on the way, I ordered a few days ago.
Cheers!

Factory O2 looks good. Moving pretty quickly. Take a look at the PL file.

Just to throw this out there...Lets pretend that the WB O2 sensor isn't the issue, what would be the next thing you would look at?

LC1....wonder you have made it this far.  I went thru three of them before I gave up.  They are the reason I run open loop most of the time even tho I now have a NGK that works all the time :) The last one is still new in the box around here someplace.  I tried to give it to Yaklin for his Challenger but he sent it back and bought something else so I guess he did some research?  lol

Ha ha! :-) I guess I have been one of the lucky ones. It has been good for a long time. I have been reading that many have had issues with them, (kinda says something if they send it back, and it's free LOL ) but I'm hoping because the rest of the readings (Idle, PT tracking, cruise) are good with it, that I have messed up a setting in the Tpro. Things are pointing to lowering my AFR Tracking TPS settings, because it doesn't take much throttle to get it into boost, and I am trying to be a bit careful by not fully mashing the gofast petal. Next I'll try playing with the gain level which is set pretty low. I'm also wondering if I have somehow corrupted my VE table? I have nothing in my Hi User Tune table to help.
