IHADAV8 Playground / Re: Spring Car Shows
« on: May 20 2013, 11:01:37 PM »
Thanks.
I checked out the Back Alley Cruiser shindig at AMC. Got there a little late though. The PA truck was packing up. About 40-50 cars. 80% were the usual - Camaro Mustangs. Herbie the love bug was there .  Probably most folks were at the cottage. I just drove in and out.

IHADAV8 Playground / Note to self : Dont go to bed drunk

some of the guys here already read this one

I woke up this morning, got dressed and went to the kitchen where my wife was already fixing breakfast. I looked to see what she was cooking, and I saw one of my socks in the frying pan. "What are you doing?", I asked. "I'm doing what you asked me to do last night when you came to bed very drunk", she replied. Completely puzzled, I walked away thinking to myself, "I don't remember asking her to cook my sock..."

Canada / Thornhill Cruise
« on: May 22 2012, 01:44:15 AM »
I got around to the cruise hosted by the Thornhill Cruisers. There always seem to be cars I never seen before there.
Not a full lot but when I was driving there I seen about 15 cars that had left the place as well as 5 more exiting the lot as I was entering. It was only 7:45pm !!
The crowd is mostly retired folks and here I always can see cars from the early post war and up to the 60's that are rarely seen at the other shows. Gotta love the big winged space ship inspired designs.

Canada / Cruise Night - Maple Cruisers
« on: May 21 2012, 12:45:32 AM »
This cruise is not far from my place. Near Canadas Wonderland. Not as many rides as the one on the Queensway but still a good show of the classic Muscle Cars from the big 3. Met Philip again and a Angelo who just p/u a super clean t-roof gn last month. He later brought over his 11sec G8.
Ton of traffic and police presence as many were parking around Canadas Wonderland to watch the fireworks.
Two big cruises tomorrow - Back Alley cruisers , AMC lot in Maple and Thornhill Cruisers at the church parking lot Bayview / Steeles north east side.
Here are a few photos from tonights Cruise

Nice! Som really cool cars there. Love the of Gran Prix...

The one with the tach on hood ? Yes, its the first one that i seen with all the performance options.  The other cool car was the nailhead buick - It had many aftermarket performance stuff from what I could see , as you know not much available for the 401s 425's.  I wished I got there earlier to chat with the folks but was great to see something other than the usual chevelle camaro mustang.
Just wondering - Am I the only one who is bored with the new and some old 70's Camaro Stang Challangers - notice I didn't waist a kilobyte of data on the camera for them. I don't hate them but I see enough of them to the point they don't interest me as much.

Canada / Toronto (Etobicoke) Street Classics Cruise
« on: May 20 2012, 02:42:12 AM »
First one of the Year. I showed up late though, but managed to cover most of the two lots. Great turnout - couple hundred cars. Wide variety of North American steel. Bonus for me was to see another 80 Turbo Monte !! This is the second one I seen since 1990, the first one was a parts car I bought 8 yrs ago. Unfortunately he had removed the factory LC8 and replaced it with a reliable V8 - same as how my car was when I bought it.
ran into Philip and gf.

thanks
its ok,- a ten footer . not as nice shape as most cars here, has stone chips, a spot of rust on the hood .  but its not a garage queen . As long as there is no salt on the road I try to drive it almost any where - see pg 5

I forgot how to show each quote and respond .
First thanks for the warm welcome. I have been lurking here every now and then.
I hope to post cruise night pics from my area , photography is my other hobbie - thought
you folks south of the border would like to see what we do up here when we are not sipping tim horton java and eating back bacon...
Is there as many Steves here as there are Daves?
the ol monte is bowtie body with buick blood ( from the factory ) so go easy on me :)
I have to find time to put an Avatar and sig etc soon
Here is my toy, I changed the rims this year from the factory sleeper spoke caps and skinnys ( last photo ) to a set of 3rd gen z28 rims I had for about 5 years sitting in the garage.

cheers
