Title: (Another) Another Music Thread
Post by: DCEPTCN on May 16 2005, 04:54:27 PM
After procrastinatin g for I don't know how long, this Saturday I bought a Boss Dr. Rythym DR-880. I used to own an Alesis SR-16 and wanted something with more capabilites this time. The damn thing is awesome.....bu t I'm gonna hafta go to nightschool to learn hw to program it. I knew somebody once who had recorded an entire speed metal album with one and it was so seemless I was shocked when he told me it was a machine. Anybody here ever get good at using these things?

I used a Yamaha RX-15 for the song thats posted here. I'm
currently experimenting using  my computer to control the midi drums
in my keyboard.

Yeah, pretty much. Its all midi in one form or another. They
all have their quirks when it comes to programming them. Before
we had a drummer, we tried using the RX-15 through the PA. I tried
programming  a few tunes into it. One song was Bad Religion by
Godsmack. I had it all programmed really close. So I figured
that I'd try hooking up the midi cables to my PC and record
the drums (through midi) and overdub some guitar and bass
tracks. Unfortunatelly the language the RX-15 spoke was different
than general midi and it came out all fucked up. It substituted
flutes and trombones, and all kinds of stuff in place of the drum samples.

Fuck that, all pedals for me. But we go for different sounds.
