So my buddy and I are leaving Home Depot, and as I back out of the parking space, I of course, look both ways sideways, up, down, etc.. As I'm backing out, I cast one lst glance over my left shoulder, and see a Toyota Corolla coming out of a spot behind me, fast. Before I can react - <BAM> he smacks my left rear quarter panel. :mad: :mad:
Some old duffer gets out, fanny pack and all... :rolleyes:
He nevers admits he's at fault - but keeps apologizing and all that crap. BIG EFFIN DEAL! Now I get to go to BG with a smashed rear quarter. :rant: :rant:
Sonce it was on private property - I had to go to the local police office and get an accident form. Any insurance experts out there? Will I have to pay for this?
I also made a crude drawing of what happened... I was all the way out of the spot, getting ready to put it in Drive and go on my way..
-
Damn, I know the feeling. When you love something someone comes along and pisses on it.
-
A Corolla did all that!?! That really sucks.
-
I'd say by the pictures, that the driver of the Toyota is at fault.
If the timing of events were a little different, that could change completely.
That section of a TR is very vulnerable, especially when its hit by a
bumper of another vehicle. BTW, thats only the second TR I've seen with a trailer hitch. There is a guy around here somewhere thats a landscaper or something.
He tows his equipment trailer with his GN. :rofl;
-
I saw that too, I thought it was the only GN in the free world with a tow hitch!
-
Yep - that's a hitch.. As redneck as it looks - I use it. I used to have it on my 87 NA - I towed a 3500lb boat/trailer. Now I just pull my Yamaha GP760 Waverunner. :supz:
-
Its hard to believe that.... :pics;
-
I pulled an 84 Limited (N/A) off a cliff in National City (Diego).
The girl who owned it was FINE as hell, so I got a chain, wrapped it between my axle and hers, dropped air pressure, and boosted that thing off the cliff. Her front wheels were already hanging off, I just feathered the pedal until I got traction and ripped it off the edge. Got her number...
And then realized she was nucking futs. To this day I challenge trucks to a tug of war, axle to axle. No one has taken me up on this offer.
-
I have friends and customers who are heavily into truck pulling competition.
They're all running 600+ Hp big blocks. Military axles, four wheel drive, etc....
You wouldn't have the weight or traction to play with them. :prayer:
They usually break all kinds of suspension parts doing it too. Not for
the faint of heart or wallet...... :rolleyes;

SuperSix, what is your collision deductible? In best case scenarios people with old paint can end up getting a whole new paint job. Go after that asshole's insurance company! Now!

Even though I work in a systems capacity I can still offer a few tips...
Based on the description of the accident, it sounds like the other driver's liability coverage should pay for the damage to your Buick. There will be no out-of-pocket expense for you, unless you decide to take advanatge of the situation and kick in the extra dollars for a complete re-paint.
It is essential that you contact your own insurance company, if you haven't already, and make them aware of this incident. In most cases, they will contact the other party's insuror and see to it that the claim is settled to your satisfaction. Sometimes, however, you may have to deal with the other insurance company on your own.
When you describe the accident, be certain to mention that the other driver was apologetic about the collision. That may be interpreted as admitting fault.
Then go get some fat estimates for the repair, choose the shop (it's generally smoother if you choose a shop that's recommended by the paying insurance company) and have at it. You may even be entitled to a rent-a-car while the Buick's being repaired - be sure to ask.
Good luck.
Rick

I know since I'm an Allstate agent that when an insured uses an Allstate preferred shop to have work done in, there are generally longstanding guarantees on the work done. Not a huge issue as it pertains to bodywork, but ask about it nontheless. Have you already notified your own ins. co. of the incident?
-
Interesting... .
Here in NH it's illegal for an insurance company
to send you to a preferred shop. It has to do
with a no steering law.
