I went up to NHIS today to crew for a customer of ours.
Here are a few pics. He runs a Mazda RX-7 in E production.
I'll be leavin' at the buttcrack of dawn to go back there tomorrow.
Rain racing. and all sorts of fun.

Gotdamn RR, you need to cut that damn hedgehog off your frickin' chin!
-
You're a scary lookin mofo Rob...
-
Looks like fun!

:cool; Looks like fun! Racing in the rain tends to bring out a lot of repairs, but can make a driver much better.
-
Today was qualifying and racing. The rain was very unforgiving,
and as a result we qualified in last place. Back in the garage we made a few adjustments, and contemplated a tire change, because it looked like it was going to let up a little. It had stopped raining for the three races before ours, but then it started to really come down. So we stayed with the rain tires. We ended up taking
first place. Not bad for my first time working on a road course car at the track.
This was also the drivers first win in all his years of racing !
-
...and the Hedgehog stays Biotch !
-
Here's a cool one of a Porsche that was running in GT that spun out
going into turn 3.
-
qualified last and came in first? Sweet! The hedgehog must be magic!!!

Next time in the rain you want to unhook the FRONT sway bar and over inflate ALL the tires. I have an article on racing in the rain on my web page that I wrote a few years back.
Sounds like your guy got it all figured out! Congrats!
-
Pissah! Sounds like a good time. Congrats on the win.

We pumped the tires to keep them hot. It was like 40 deg out to boot.
-
The reason you want to pump them up in the rain is so the center of the tread bulges out and pushes the water out better so you are not hydroplaning. You don't want a flat contact patch.
In that weather, you will not be getting a ton of grip from tire temps anyhow...
Congrats on the WIN!!!

Memorial Day weekend I'll be wrenchin' two cars.
That one and the GT3 Scirocco. I hope that they don't get
grouped together.
-
Even more so, you had better hope that they both don't have issues at the same time!

Thats what I'm afraid of. At least if they're in different groups, I can work
on one while the other's on the track.
