Saturday I'll be back to the track  forcast is sunny with high of 50. Last year buddys supercharged mustang and mine were, his 13.0 to my 13.2 :( I've got the new turbo and hopefully all the other gremlins worked out...he got a set of slicks. Cant wait to see how they match up this time.
Thanks for the help...wouldnt have made it this year without it
-
Steve...how fast can he go on those 37 lb injectors and alky?
-
Mid 11's spraying alky
-
So with these tires low 12's? Temps in the upper 40's will help car make power but will hurt traction im guessing.
-
Line lock? Tire/rim size?
-
No line lock. 275/40/17 street tire. Its s street/ show car that I track once a year, I know these tires suck for racing but it is what it is. Next year I want to put some Nitto street/strip tires on.
-
I'm guessing you won't be able to flat foot it till you're well into 2nd gear. You'll have to reel this guy in.
-
sounds like fun!!!! I love pics and vids of runs at the track!! Hint hint.

like phil, I like to watch

I will try to get some. Pics for sure. Hopefully my son comes and he can get some video and attach it. Im no good with computers. No wonder my cars slow
-
If you want some good mph, crank the alky to 10 and start pulling back on the fuel. That is how I got almost 117mph in the 1/4 on a hot day in a 4050lb car with a TE44 and pump and alky.
-
Is a hot day for you about 50 f? :D

That's why it's called Winterpeg.

That's tanning weather!

That's tanning weather!
Down here that is the debt of winter. I've had more than a few Christmas days where it was over 60*f in the afternoon.
Good turbo Buick weather for sure.
-
I kid about the tanning but my boss was wearing shorts the other day and it was 40'F. We're suppose to be getting up to 60'F this week, everyone is pumped!
-
When I was stationed at fort wainwright outside of Fairbanks, I once saw a guy washing his car, wearing shorts and a t shirt and it was 25 above with the sun shining

Had a great day at track. Best time was 12.500. Will post pic of slip with other info. Car has more in her but I wasnt aggressive on pulling fuel Out and ran out of test time. This run had O2 reading of 792 and zero knock. Time trials ended so I quit pulling fuel and just raced. Won first round, lost next :( to a frickin mustang. Guy took forever at the tree, then rolled through and had to back up and restage. No excuse but it caught me off guard and when the tree finally dropped I was in my third round of building boost and having to let off and start over it caught me at about 4 lbs and I had nothing off the line.
With more practice and more tuning im sure next year I will get in the elevens
-
Congrats! You did well with street tires. :)
-
I hear ya on the practicing part. Why does there have to be different ways for the lights to drop. I thought I had a good handle on the sportsman version of the lights but then I was introduced to pro street lights. I do like the whole courtesy staging. Congrats on the 12.5!
-
The track will either be running a Pro or Sportsman tree. I haven't tried a Pro tree...and I don't think I want too. :D
-
Damn, that was really good for those tires! Your car is really running well now!

He burned you down.
That protree you have to build the boost with the prestage light lit, then bump it to light the stage. Hard on a converter and trans brake. Much easier with a foot brake.
Nice run.
-
I am sure glad you finally found the problem with the boost and got to go to the track and make a good run on top of that.....:)

Thanks guys!! In all got 14 runs in that day. First run was a 13.1, started leaning it down and mostly ran 12.7's. Attached is the best run in practice and the best run while racing, only got 3 races in as I still suck off the line :rolleyes; and got eliminated. I think from looking around I was one of the very few running street tires. I did line up with a challenger on street tires and beat him by 3 car legnths so that helped the moral a bit. most were leaving me bad off the line. I love racing anything, win or lose ( winning is better  ) so it was a great day, car keeps getting better. Like I said before, I think I can get an 11 out of her next year.
Thanks again for all the help and advice!!!
-
If it had pulled a 1.7 short time, you would have run a 12.0 so elevens are not far away....how much boost were you running?
-
25 lbs. Car held it right on 25 through out the runs. O2 recorded on that run was 792 at 110mph and 0 KR. I could have pulled more fuel but that was my last run before racing. I dialed in at 12.5 and wanted to duplicate that run while racing but couldnt.
It still pushed a very tiny amount of oil out the dipstick tube, it would leave spots on the plug wires and on the outside of the tube. I just wiped it off with a napkin after each run and it never got worse.
-
turn it up one pound and that will probably nail the fueling
-
That is a pretty good time with that 60ft! And like Steve said, especially with those tires.
-
Thanks!! Plan on getting some nittos next spring. How much boost can a guy typically leave with on those. I understand track prep is a factor but just wondered. On these I was usually leaving on 5-6 lbs.
-
Skip the nittos and go for some MT Drag Radials - leave @ 10-15psi off the ebrake
That alone will get you close to an 11.99 if not a little quicker

I don't know about the ebrake, that could tear your backing plate out.
-
Yep
-
Line lock. You can leave with lots more RPM. One on my car is so simple...even a cave man can hook it up.
-
Which one you using?
-
Jack Cottons
-
And Grumpys ashtray switch. :)
-
Here's a couple of pics I just took. Unscrew the line from the MC and screw it into the roll control...and install the other line Jack sends. Wire it...and you're good to go.
-
Yes...that's a fire extinguisher.. .and it fits tightly between the seat and the console. I've seen way too many guys stop haifway down the track...or at the turnoff road...and stand there and watch their pride and joy burn to the ground.
-
Note the hotwire kit...think the one in the pic is for the pump...and I have the other from Jack at Racetronix for the injectors...an d Caspers V plus volt booster. Guys, I can't stress enuf how important it is that you supply these engines with the fuel pressure/volume they require. You wouldn't believe the PL files I look at where the voltage is in the 12's...and the guy is wondering why he's seeing KR...or why he tossed a set of head gaskets.
-
Damn smart!
-
Everything on my car is plug-n-play. No cut/slashed wires etc.

I carry one in my trunk, attached to the underneath of the rear deck

your power steering bracket needs to be bead blasted and repainted. Its got some corrosion on it. :icon_lol: lol.
Everythings lookin pretty good! I like the brake line formed nice and neat and not the stocker just twisted around to fit

I guess it could happen - I never had an issue.....
-
you were lucky...it's happened to a lot of people! :)
-
With line lock and all long rear pads and S-10 rear wheel cylinders you can hold some silly RPM's on the line. I don't recommend the rear brake setup I have on a street car...cuz the arse end can come around on you in a panic situation...or on a damp or dusty road. Been there...done that.

Happened to me in 5 pm traffic on a six lane Highway. 35 mph and I went around 2. 5 times and ended up in the center turn lane. They came off when I got home
