I have a pair of MT 245/50/16 DR's and a pair of MT 245/50/16 ET Street bias plys. What tire pressure would you guys recommend for the track...as I've never run the 16's before. Both sets are mounted on TTA rims.
-
being skinny, I would suggest about 24 psi as the starting spot and check the patches as you would normally do on some cleaner pavement to see which way you might need to to from there
-
ok how do normally check the patchs? dark in the middle to much pressure?
-
Grab an extension cord, bring your computer and scanner out to the driveway, make a small ramp, drive up onto your scanner bed.....

I love google,
under-inflated tire will show dark edges and a light center indicating that the tire is cupping.

Drag racing 101 :)

Steve swears by the burn out test. ;)

that may be a bit strong. :)
It may not be as precise for radial tires but it gives you a starting place and a guide for which way to go. Once in the ball park, it would pay to experiment and let the clocks tell you what is best

Steve, I'd have a go at what you've suggested...an d it's sound advice...but if you get nailed up here doing something like that...you quite literally get charged with racing...and get your car impounded. That's why I'm asking for a track pressure to start out at.
-
Just do it on the return road or similar on track property. You won't be the first or last to use that trick.
-
racing or stunting either the wack you

Scoobum are you going away from the Hoosier drag radials? I remember you mention in the past you were using a set. What range of air psi did you run those at?

I just bolted 'em on today...with the new Billet Specialties rims.
