That is some tall order being the belt tensioner has been discontinued from GM

If you don't get a reply from this board you might not has a choice but to get it a belt tensioner from one of the Buick Vendor, and pay their price.

I've been dreading paying the price of a new one... haha I could buy much need parts for what seems to be a 80 dollar part for almost 400 dollars with shipping.  :013:

I guess our 30k or so production isn't enough to warrant an after market mfg to step up and produce a replacement.
I deliver to a place that makes aluminum castings and was thinking I should ask about a small run of castings to make them but I doubt I could bankroll such an undertaking.
What generally goes bad with the tensioner? Does the spring break or the casting have a problem?
Another thought I had was if the spring breaks one could disassemble and replace the spring.

Anyone have thoughts?

I find that the aluminum cracks at the mounting bolt holes due to torque straps and then vibrates once broken. The fix to this is do not use a strap and if you are making real power invest in poly mounts or get the RJC brace. I'm guessing the spring can give out but I'm positive you can fix that by buying a 1 inch shorter belt to stop it from clacking. In my Case my mounting bolthole is busted off.
