I'm to the point of getting comfortable running 28 plus PSI of boost. I currently have a GBODY PARTS stretched SLIC...and I run alky...and bracket race the car...so cooldown times can be short. I only track the car...so driveability isn't an issue. Is it time to go to a FMIC for cooler air charge temps at higher boost pressures to lessen the chance of KR...and to help heat soak between runs when racing? I'd be going to the RJC 325...which is the street version Jason sells. Your thots guys.

I think Grumpy is/was running high 9's with a stretched SLIC and alky. What turbo are you running?

He certainly did. CEA 6262

Some SLIC scoops are terrible for presenting air to the core. The stock scoop works well for the application and Meese had a scoop with a baffle that worked well on his intercooler and a half combinations. I have a PTE SLIC and the backpressure across the core is 1.5 psi but the scoop as received from Precision looks to be terrible for using the majority of the heat exchange surface. The scoop can be be reworked for improved air flow over the core. The air also has to get out of the core as well. Red Armstrong's TSE car that runs 9's with a slic uses that flapper door which Red had me under his car looking at. I'm not saying you should/should not go front mount but you do have options.

I don't think you will go any faster.

had one in my 87x
with the gbody SLIC measuring the inlet temps in the plenum with alky were less than favorable , would see 140s during a pass (70 over ambient) and that was at boost of around 21
i had better temps with a dutt neck but the pressure drop was higher
now im running with a precision FMIC i have low pressure drop and inlet temps slightly cooler than ambient

Thanks for the real world data Paul...always appreciated.

That's good info...is the Mark Huffman SLIC pretty much the same a the Gbody one? I'd like to stay with a SLIC but don't want to spend 1g on the Precision SLIC.
