Title: Adjusting windows
Post by: xpander343 on June 28 2013, 04:25:26 PM
My car has brand new weather stripping and is a t-top car.   I've recently assembled most of the car and was working on getting the windows to close nice.   With the new weather stripping it seems like the motors aren't strong enough to push the windows up tight against them.
I can adjust them so that when they are up and I close the door they seal, but I refuse to have a stupid window I can't close properly when driving.
When doing the adjusting I had the trickle charger on the battery so I assume it was getting enough voltage.  I also replace the window switches because the chrome was falling off, and they were worn out and loose feeling.
Any suggestions on what I should do?  I have the same issue on both sides.  Is this a not enough power to the motors issue? or I just haven't gotten the windows to the perfect spot yet?

Probably a bit of both. Hope they are GM seals, otherwise all bets are off.
(just ask Chris :) )

the seals on the T-tops came in gm wrappers.  The ones on the car were gbodyparts aftermarket ones.   They will require some mods to get them to puff out in a few spots.
I guess I'll be spending some more time this weekend adjusting.

Those windows have a gazillion adjustments on them. There's a gentleman in the Toronto Area who's been a glazer for 40 years and worked for Speedy Auto Glass.

Sounds like I should just spend more time playing with them.   Oh well, long weekends are there for a reason.
