I have decided to remove my Powermaster and replace it with a Powerboost system for my 87 setup. I have heard of the Powerbooster being installed on an 87 setup, however I'm not sure of how the lines need to run. Can anyone help out with a write-up, a diagram or even some pics?
Thanks in advance.
-
believe it was TB3 that once promised me some pics and a write up....
-
crap! your absolutely right. I remember that. :(
What a way to treat my number one favorite guy of the turbobuick world.
if its any consolation, your certainly not the first person I've let down.
ironically, my hydroboost conversion made me a popular guy a couple buick meets ago.
and, I just remembered I was asked to do a write up for the local buick club newsletter.
How about a write up how to convert to a "stay down" license plate bracket? That'd be alot easier and more my speed
boblaw, I'm not with my car right now, but I will take pics in the next couple days and try to make it short as possible.
What hydroboost unit are you installing? aftermarket? or another factory unit from a gm car?
-
I've got a couple Canadian staydown license plate brackets on my cars
-
are they made out of hemp?
I know its not a big deal to use the gas cap as a prop rod, but that "stay down" bracket deal is pretty nice.
Thats another mod I can honestly say was worth the money.
around $20 or something like that, if I recall correctly
-
I agree...well worth the money!

Here's a start as I too have read and did a lot of research of changing over from PowerMaster to Hydroboost system. Still thinking about since my PowerMaster still working correctly.

Hey guys,
Sorry for the long delay in my response, real busy at work. Anyways, I found the link that gnonyx had posted and the second link to the Ceder Crest Speedlab was the one that had all the parts that are needed. Both links have great information. One thing on the hoses though, I went to O'Reilly's Auto get the hoses, and had no luck, they barely had them in their system. They said that they could order them from Gates but the final cost for both hoses would be $110!!. I went to Rockauto.com and the hoses were in stock for $55. Very cool.
BTW, I'm using the '84 hydroboost setup for the car. It's a drop in replacement with no mods needing to be made. I have heard nothing but good things from everyone who has made the conversion. Thanks for all the help.

there is some good write ups out there.
Theres a couple things I do that I don't ever see mentioned though.
I just talked to the infamous gngal on the phone yesterday. She wants to do the hydro boost conversion on her gn this winter. apperantly she had a tough time with her powermaster on the powertour.
I think that would be a excellent time to do that write-up!
here is a pic of my 87 conversion.

I'm waiting for someone to come out with a plug-n-play kit for morons like myself. No wait. Lazy morons...like myself.
-
Amen!
-
I don't think it gets more plug n play than ordering the parts and putting them on.

There is the cedarcrest mod to the pwr steering pump end of one of the hoses but it is so very easy even I was able to do it.

Thanks Dave!
TexasT - if they want a sub forum here, they can have it. FYI
-
I don't know if they want a subforum . I can ask the president. On a side note they are planning a Texas Meet and everyone is invited. More as info comes available.
I didn't know one had to be logged in to view that site. I'll have to post that info elsewhere so it is more accessible.
It (hydroboost) is probably one of the best mods since learning to raise boost, and "adjust" fuel pressure on a stock regulator.
