Title: Hey Natty, Mr. hendrix fan...
Post by: DCEPTCN on January 31 2006, 05:31:27 PM
It took me a while, but I found this. You might remember me mentioning seeing this live back in November. I thought I'd show it to ya.....you might like it. I really wish that whoever put this up hadn't put the dumb broad with a gun in it, but oh well.

Buckethead rocks in EVERYTHING!! But I am interested in a Hendrix fan's perspective. I'm not a huge Hendrix fan (don't get me wrong, I *respect* him a lot), but I thought B Head covering that tune was amazing both in idea and follow-through. I wanna see what Natty thinks.

Does he ALWAYS wear the bucket? I kinda think that SOME of the feeling isn't being conveyed because you can't see his facial expressions.

Amazing guitarist hough..

Being a huge Hendrix fan myself, I thought he did a decent job but I just wasn't feeling the original vibe.

I agree that the girl clip was not necessary, but I was thinking that he put that in places where the camera work got shoddy as a filler.

I wasn't into it until about 4:45 minutes into the song. It's not bad, but it lacks the ferocity of the original and I know BH can do a lot more with the song.

With fingers like that he should have been a Gynecologist.  Gotta see him live someday.

Very impressive. I still have to agree with Natty though.
Jimi was far more agressive with it. Probably due to all
the disgust people had with Viet Nam at the time. No to
mention his prolific use of drugs. There are some things
one can't touch, but BH has come damn close.

Agree with Natty and Robert...I think it also has to do with the amp settings... BH played it on a farely clean channel where as H
endrix had 46 pedals hooked through each other.... to get his distinct sound...

Fuzz Face, Crybaby, Uni-Vibe with controller and a Marshall. I bought a Rotovibe to play this song, I think I can top BH.

Flame suit is on! *runs*

I didn't actually expect any purists to right fall in love with it....he's gotta make it his own a little bit, y'know? I don't think Hendrix could play "Jumpman" perfectly either. Apples to oranges.....I just thought it might entertain y'all.

I really like the bucket/mask. Instead of guys like Slipknot who are trying to impress you with their oh-so-scary masks, Big B honestly is about it being about the music rather than himself. And I have seen him tear off some breath taking solos and it's almost eerie that his face remains completely emotionless with that blank stare.

As for Hendrix's effects line up, there was more to it than that.
I can't currently remember the guys name who used to build
them for him. But back in the day his effects setup was about the size of two refridgerators . Most of the stuff was made with tubes to boot. So it
was rather cumbersome. That stuff was always setup out of sight.
Kinda top secret.  :supz:

yup he has tons of pedals link together to boost the signal....  I cant remember who built the effects either.. but Jeff Beck, Page, and Hendrix were ther first to use this huys stuff... which included the fuzz face....

I'm pretty sure...

Roger Mayer?

yes! I knew it was a Mayer or so....

I forget the story... but he offered jeff or Page a pedal fisrt and they didnt use it and then Hendrix said he'll use it and then the rest is history... I think it was Jeff becuase I know PAge used a fuzz face

Years ago, a buddy and I were messin' around with our guitars.
Changin' pickups and stuff. On this particular night, we were using
a cordless screwdriver. With the guitar plugged in, it made a really cool noise.
I said to him, I'm going to use that when I record my next song. Damn it !
Van Halen comes out with a new song, where he uses an electric drill to make the exact same noise. I was pissed...

Get a guitar with humbuckers and shitty shielding. Turn up the gain and shoot your remote control at it.

Paul Gilbert persevered and found a new way to use a drill on guitar (I'm sure Makita was paying him for it, too). so you can too. The Detonators in the Rhoads are super hot and will pick up the signal of someone calling me a split second before the phone starts to ring.
