My yearly trip to the track is this week end, just finished installing the line lock to save my back brakes during the burnout. MT DRs are on fresh oil and plugs and an extra gallon of alky.
I plan to launch with about 8lb of boost and see if I can improve my short time, any words of wisdom from the hard core racers?
My best short time prior was an 1.7 on Toyo Proxies I never stressed the tires but could not build or hold much boost at the line. I installed a new torque converter that's a little looser and can build about 10 psi on the street with the MT. I also replaced my hooker down pipe with a 3inch plus a roller cam 212/206 over the winter. Tranny is set up to shift at about 5600 and it pulls hard all the way oh yeah an extra alky nozzle too. :D
Best ET was 11.88 at 117mph with a 2.0 short time any guess what it will put down?
-
it should pull at least a low eleven...what it does is up to you :)
that assumes the turbo/intercooler is large enuf and the extra alky nozzle does not slow you down, of course
-
No matter what the time slip says that 1st pass will put a big smile on your face!!

Friday is tuning day on the 4 lane stretch at home, I'll keep uping the boost until I see knock than back it off a lb or 2.
I can adjust the amount of alky with my controller it pulls like a freight train right now at 23 psi according to the butt dyno.
CAS V4 stretch intercooler and a CPT BB 61 turbo.
-
should be enuf for low elevens....but, it will be easier to tune with one alky nozzle.
It is very difficult to keep two nozzles from bogging you down.
You want the minimum alky required at any point to prevent detonation, and just enough converter to get the tires to the edge of spinning, and no more.

Pulled this out of the paper
"But blistering temperatures, which on Saturday measured 37 Celsius (60 Celsius trackside), kept fans out of the stands and someplace cooler. “We were down by 500 to 700 people on Saturday. It was pretty dam hot,” Surry said. “We had to do extra track prep too before races because of the heat.”
Yikes no wonder the temp gauge hit 190 at the end of the track!
-
LOL, it's 39 and still a bit to go here at the moment....glad to see you all are getting some of the heat that we consider normal because misery likes company.
If you had pulled a 1.60 short time, you would have knocked another three tenths off the run! Not shabby at all
-
I tried 1 10psi launch ended up doing a bigger bunout than I did in the burnout box.
Lost to the local police race car on that run with a woman driver!

you spin, you lose :)

Way to go Larry
