Title: Timing
Post by: gordyzx9r on January 06 2012, 07:59:10 PM
"I ordered a new TT Chip and the timing was set at 18-19, compared to the old chip which was at 20-21.  Only difference when I ordered the chip was the 212/212 cam and the Champion heads/intake.  Is that normal timing?  We didn't make any changes with the turbo or intercooler, still have the 23 row SMIC and the TA-49 with a 2800 stall l/u."

as it is programmable, it does not make any difference in the real world.  I prefer a bit lower timing and more boost.  If the car will handle it, you can always add more timing-particularly in low gear assuming you have tires that will take it.

Best to ask Eric over on his board if you want his specific reasoning, I would think.

I have bought a few different TT alky chips and they were always 23/21 for timing. I just bought his SD chip for alky and 20/18 was written on it. I inquired and Eric said exactly what Steve said : program it to where I want it. I have read that Steve does like lower timing and higher boost so that's what I have always done and my results have always been great. I  run street tires and always stick to 21/19 with pump gas and alky. It would probably help to drop the timing more in 1/2, but I kind of like the fun factor on the street.

This one is:

TT5.7
7344
60lbs Inj
Street 93 OCT
20/18 Degrees
16-18 PSI

I spoke with Eric, there seems to have been some miscommunicati
on in the order process.  It was supposed to be an "alcohol" chip but it's a "street" chip
