I've got some pictures on my home computer. I will post them this evening.
All .45's
Only 3 of them, but nice ones, no junk.
1. Custom Colt, early '60's matching frame & slide, longslide, built by Jim Hoag.
2. Les Baer Premier II, almost stock.
3. Early all blue made in America and marked as such Springfield Trophy Match, almost stock.

thats right, I remember that.
I read your profile and thought you had more..

Used to collect handguns, especially 45 automatics, especially Detonics, the orig baby .45's. Had over 60 in my safe at one.
-
Is it true that the ARMY ones are for shit??
I collect WW2 guns, but those are far down the list...

Archie:
If you mean Army .45's, yes, I wouldn't have one, at least for shooting.
If I was to buy another .45 for shooting, it would have to be at least a Les Baer Premier II starting at about $ 1450, I believe. In the world of high performance high accuracy firearms, you pretty much get what you pay for. Just like fckng Turbo Buicks. I haven't been shooting for a couple of years, but I would never get rid of my shooting guns.

Hmm... my grandfather was an officer in the Navy in WWII and the chrome .45 he had when landing on Okinawa was stolen. Pisses me off. At my dad's house there's chest full of vintage guns there, but I haven't stepped foot in that house in ages. How much was your long slide?
-
I believe about $ 1600, but I consider it virtually irreplaceable. Jim Hoag used to get about $2500 and your gun to do a longslide. Les Baer makes one that is not available new in Kali for about $ 1500, or $ 1600, I believe.

The rumour mill is churning out some about us getting rid of our current 9mm and going back to a .45.
-
FWIW & IMHO:
I have owned a lot of semi-automatic handguns over my shooting years, some of them 9mm's, and I just don't have the same faith in the 9mm round that I do in the 45 for defense use. Home or otherwise. I think that a lot of law enforcement agencies have gotten away from the 9mm and gone to the .40 or .45. Even "hot loaded" 9mm's just don't have the knockdown power. I would just about as soon use a slingshot as a 9mm.
