Title: RockAuto fucking rocks.
Post by: SuperSix on January 20 2011, 05:38:22 PM
So - I need a new radiator for the pimpride Caddy.

I have used Rock Auto in the past, and decided to do some shopping - comparing to AutoZone here locally. The one thing I didn't like about Rock was that unless you are very careful, there's multiple shipping charges, as they can ship from many warehouses. I only compared items with exact part number matches.

Tried this once before and thought I'd give it one more shot. Just put 100 Mitsubishi throttle body gaskets in my cart at Rock Auto and put in my zip code and the shpg came up at $39.95. Not gonna happen when you can fit ship 200 of them in a $10 USPS flat rate box. Be careful of their shpg charges like SuperSix said.

There office is here in Madison, WI. More often than not, I have to deal with idiots who say they can get an AC Delco part from there cheaper than from a dealer... Then comes the shipping charges and the wait time.

I actually applied with them a few years ago before I found out who they were. They're not real well liked by a lot of people in this area, especially since theres a B2B and CarQuest warehouse in Madison, along with two Delco warehouses.

Oh, and now we got O'Reillys pimping there cheap shit all over southern Wisco also.

Like everyone has said, beware the shipping. When I bought front brakes for my GTP, parts on Rock Auto were $72 and the same parts at my local Carquest were $98. But after shipping to Canadikuhh they wanted $135.

I'll stick with local...

Amazing, that in this day and time, that there are still customs duties and import taxes between Canada and the U.S. of A.  One would have thought that NAFTA would have eliminated such stuff.

After all, George Soros wants one world government which will make his international business much more profitable, and Canada/the U.S. and Mexico will probably be the North American United States of the World.

Rarely is there a duty.
Mostly it is about state(province) and federal taxes being grabbed at point of entry.

That and UPS being damn near deceitful when they clear items using their own internal clearing house and charge a disproportiona te amount to do so.

I buy from Rockauto- but then I know how to drive across the border to pick items up. :)

Fuuuuuuuuuuuck

Got the radiator today.

First thing I noticed was the duct tape on the box - taped over with clear tape. THat mans to me that it had been a return. I shook the box, shit was flopping around inside.

So - I took a bunch of pics, and opened it - it's a FUCKING AC CONDENSER, not a radiator.

My email to them, and pics - we'll see how they handle this. Morons.

I ordered VISTA-PRO432222 (1067) Radiator on 01/20, tracking # 55717396115010 7.

I received the wrong part - I got an A/C condenser instead of a
radiator, apparently this isn't the first time this mistake has been
made - the box came with duct tape on it, and the Vista Pro label has
"AC CONDENSER" circled with 4 arrows pointing to it. The PN on the box
is right though - 1067, but looks relabeled. (pics below)

I also didn't get 2 other parts that ware said to be in the same shipment,
Your order has shipped! VISTA-PRO       432222  Shipped, GATES  27041   Shipped,
GATES   27042   Shipped
#       FedEx   55717396115010 7

GATES   27041   Vacuum Hose
GATES   27042   Vacuum Hose
Both are missing.

Of course - the order packer didn't sign the packing slip, scan of the
packing list attached.
Please see pics below.

This had been shipped to a "ROBERT B BRIGHTWELL" on 12/10/10 - Fedex
had to cover that label.

Overall, pretty sloppy, how will this get fixed?

Thanks
Mark S.

My rule is if you can get it local, buy it. Even if it's a few bucks more. Fuck Ebay, internet stores and UPS.

Well, it's a lot more than a "few bucks", and I'm not desperate for the radiator.

Advance Auto has the radiator local for $125 no shipping.  With code# RAD25 and another promo J4NY but not sure that works in your area.

Comes up as 139.49 here using those codes. I don't care for Advance - didn't shop them.

Rock replied - they are going to issue a call tag and ship the right radiator. We will see.

Their reply:

Dear Mark,

Thank you for contacting us about this problem. This is not the type of shipping and delivery procedure we stand for here at RockAuto. Thank you for the images you have provided, as they have been helpful in starting to figure out what has happened here. It appears a few different things have occurred contributing to this whole situation.

You did order the correct part (Vista Pro #432222). The reason the number on the box (1067) matched the number on the order is because within Vista Pro's catalog, this number is cross-listed for two completely different parts. You received the A/C Condenser which I matched from your picture to a different part in our catalog. This was a mistake on the warehouse's part because they would have seen from the order you ordered a Radiator. I can set up a return line for you, if you let us know if you prefer having the correct part reshipped to you or if you would like a refund, either in store credit or to your Visa Card.

The package you received was clearly reboxed by carrier, probably due to damage to the original box. It is possible the hoses were lost in this process. I have submitted request to our warehouse contact to see if the hoses were in the same box originally. For now, if you could please just check around where the box was dropped off to make sure nothing fell under a deck or in a bush. I will let you know as soon as I hear back about these missing parts.

Again I apologize for the incorrect shipment of these parts. Thank you again with your patience in this matter. As soon as you let us know your preferences on the return of the A/C Condenser we can set up that return line. Again I will let you know as soon as we know about the status of your hoses.

Thank you,

Rachel
