Hey I just bought a '96 Chevy S-10. This will replace my Mazda
in October. Its a 2.2 liter with a 5 speed. I may do some mods
to it. Because its OBD II, a Buick GN transplant is out. So I'm thinking
about modding the stock engine. Has anyone seen anything
for these trucks ? Any links ? etc...

4.3 swap and a blower.
-
150 shot on the 2.2.

At least it'll be easier to change the head gasket on this compared to a Buick. :rofl;

Here are a couple pics.....

Can't you jam a rear drive 3800 with a stick shift from a camaro in one of those?

I wonder. My sister has one - really slim between the shock towers. You have to take a section of the steering out to change one of the plugs.
-
The stock 4.3 is better than a Camaro 3800. Yeah, the
drivers side center plug sucks to change on those.

Unfortunately, I can't get away with that. Customers get pissed about that stuff.

RR, move to the mississippi gulf coast, shops get away with MUCH worse!
-
Made a little more progress on it lately.....

Oh God, that damn #3 plug. Forget about it. Won't even do it my mom's truck.
You might be able to fab a turbo kit for it. Should be straight forward, no complex bends or such.

Rob:
Congratulation s on the truck, looks like a pretty nice truck.
-
The engine is done and in.
2.2 liter Chevrolet 4 cyl.
Mods include:
Bored .030" over
Block and cylinder head milled to
make 10.0:1 compression ratio
Ported head, intake manifold, plenum, and
exhaust manifold
Comp Cams 1.6 ratio roller tip rockers making
a net .460" lift at the valves.
OBD II compatible
Bright yellow paint for added bling.
It started up right away today. :supz:

Dont you love when everything falls into place and you have no problems? How fast is that thing going to be?

The computer will restrict it to 98mph, but It should get there pretty damn quick.

That's the way my truck is too. I figured it is safer that way.

Are those self-aligning vortec rockers? Good work Rob!

Comp Cams 1.6 ratio for a 2.8 liter V6 Chevy.

I've done a few more things to it.
I had a couple problems with the third brake light. It didn't
work to start with, but it was also letting in water. I didn't find out
until I started installing the stereo.under the floor mats were all wet.
So I dried it with a shop vac, and taped the lense until I got a new one.
Its an expensive little sucker too. $90 cost ! But, it needs to be there
for state inspection. The stereo is mostly in. A buddy of mine has
a 2001 Extreme, that he converted to air suspension. He gave me
all the stock extreme suspension parts, so now the truck is 2" lower
with a rear swaybar. I've been waiting for a nice day to take some
pictures, because the night pics are hard to see and the look hazy if I
try to lighten the up enough.

Sweet! I love hounding parts like that! I got LS1 calipers that way!
