I was actually looking for an '03 to '05 model 3/4 ton GMC truck to tow the car trailler, and we were kinda haphazardly looking around in San Diego just to see if we'd get lucky finding a rig we wanted. We're still a year out so we weren't too serious about picking something up, but we stumbled across this:

It's an '06 GMC Sierra 2500HD SLE. It's a leftover that had 23 miles on it. The sticker said it was $41K in '06, they had it marked down to $32K (before taxes and fees so it would have been like $36K). I told them I wouldn't give them more than $30K out the door (taxes and fees included). They did the usual game with running back and forth to the general manager, the finance manager, and the owner. I left after a couple of hours and told them if they wanted to sell the truck to call me. Eventually they did and I got it for under $30K.
Holy crap this is a long ass truck...

Hey, that's at Marvin K. Brown, isn't it? Nice score!
-
Sounds like a good deal to me!

I'm surprised that you didn't meet up with Brian, Phil and Greg while
you were there.

I thought he asked/posted here didn't he?

Believe me, I would have liked too. This vacation was hectic, we hit every single tourist trap they have here. The wife, kids, and I all came together and I knew I'd have a hard time breaking free...but I didn't realize I wouldn't get to spend quality time with the GN until today.
I tried to knock out the services today.
I managed to change the plugs, engine oil/filter, transmission oil/filter, flush the radiator, and change the fuel filter.
Speaking of fuel filter...when I went to the Buick dealer they gave me a GF 652, the one that came off of it was a GF 481. Did they just change the part # because they look identical? The reason I ask is because when I went back later, I noticed it was seeping (which is bad...I know) so I loosened it, retightened it, dried everything off and put out a dry bucket to see if it's still seeping in the morning.
I still have to service the rear end, then wash/wax & detail it until I come back to pick her up next year to take her wherever it is I'm going.

I have a lot of experience driving one just like that. They are so goddamned long that they can be difficult to turn in a pinch. Also, take a long look at any drive-thru lane before you attempt it. You've been warned.

You may have screwed up the o'rings on the fuel lines and caused the leak. I think the part number change is due to a part revision. Around here, when they changed from MTBE to ethanol in the gas, I was replacing alot of fuel filters because the two additives would react with each other and cause the filter media to swell and restrict the flow. Maybe the found something that worked better ?
I replaced the fuel filter (again) and no more leaks...
Regardless...w here can I get those o'rings from?

lol...yeah, I've already had fun with looking for parking and so forth.
What surprises me is how many people drive much bigger trucks all over SoCal.

I thought I posted this, but nice truck and good luck with it!

Any real parts store like a NAPA or a dealer.
-
Brian, I apologize for not being able to hook up with you while I was there. I needed another week there in SoCal to get everything done that I wanted to.
-
Oh, no probs man. It was good talking to you. Well, was it as good for you as it was for me? Did you get a hold of Neal?
Anyway, family first man, definitely. Hit me up when you get back.

Well, the trailer is there and it's freaking huge compared to what I envisioned it would be.
Here is my father taking the GN to Don Lee's to get fixed. Kinda surprised it has to ride so far forward to stay in CG, lots of useless (?) room behind the car in the trailer it looks like.
And he put the cover on it because he was afraid to get it dusty...lol.
Man, that's gonna be a helluva ride out east come June...I can't wait to tally up those gas receipts.

Nice looking trailer. Good luck on your trip. :psix;
